Wife of the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Titi Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerian youths to support her husband in the 2027 presidential election, saying his performance in office would make Nigerians demand a second term despite his pledge to serve only one term.
Titi made the remarks at an ADC All Support Groups Town Hall Meeting in Abuja, where she appealed to youths and women to take an active role in the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
She expressed confidence that Atiku would perform so well if elected that Nigerians would eventually want him to remain in office beyond his first four years.
“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to this saddle, people will yearn that Atiku should continue and do a second term,” she said.
Titi also suggested that Atiku could use his first term to prepare his deputy to succeed him, saying the former Vice-President had sufficient political and administrative experience to govern without needing to learn on the job.
She described Atiku as an experienced politician and philanthropist, insisting that he was not a novice and would not be coming into government to enrich himself.
“Atiku is not coming to chop government money. Atiku wants to give back to you people,” she said.
Titi also urged young Nigerians not to sell their votes during the 2027 elections, warning that doing so would affect not only the present generation but also future generations.
“If you sell your vote, you are selling the vote of your generation yet unborn,” she said.
She further criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, claiming that Nigerians were struggling and that the country’s economy remained in difficulty.
“Nothing is working. Our economy is in shambles,” she said, while questioning how Nigerians were coping with the current economic situation.
Titi said an Atiku-led administration would seek to reverse the situation and improve the living conditions of Nigerians if given the mandate in 2027.
She consequently called on youths and women to strengthen the ADC’s grassroots mobilisation and support Atiku’s presidential bid.
Her comments come as opposition politicians continue efforts to build political alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Atiku and other opposition figures seeking to present a stronger challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Atiku is contesting the 2027 presidential election under the ADC after years of seeking the presidency on different political platforms.
