According to a statement released by the Guild’s President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the conference theme is “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”

The sub-theme will focus on “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.”

The Guild explained that the conference aims to examine the crucial role editors play in promoting democratic governance and national unity.

It will also explore the challenges and opportunities editors face in fostering democratic values and national cohesion through responsible journalism.

Tinubu, alongside other notable figures such as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will attend the opening ceremony.

The event will attract over 500 media professionals from across Nigeria and beyond.

Key sessions will cover topics including electoral disputes and judicial integrity, the state of the nation with emphasis on economic and political reforms, combating misinformation and AI disruption in journalism, national security challenges, and investment opportunities for editors post-career.

The Guild highlighted that in times of socio-economic challenges, unity in diversity, inclusion, dialogue, and shared values remain essential to Nigeria’s national cohesion.
