Peter Obi’s Birthday Decision Shows Integrity, Rejects ₦120m Gift

Peter Obi’s birthday decision highlights his values as he rejects a ₦120 million house gift and ₦20 million party, choosing to fund schools and education instead

Peter Obi’s birthday decision has once again underlined the former governor’s commitment to modest living and social impact, as he reportedly turned down lavish personal gifts in favour of education projects.

Speaking on his recent birthday, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate revealed he rejected a ₦120 million house gift.

Instead, he asked that the funds be used to build classrooms in Agulu, Ekwulobia, and Abatete.

In a further act of simplicity and purpose, he also declined a ₦20 million birthday celebration.

Rather than spend on a party, the money was redirected towards donating 200 desktop computers to schools across Anambra State.

This action reflects Obi’s long-standing public image as a frugal and purpose-driven leader.

His choice of priorities places him apart in a political landscape often marked by extravagance.

Obi, who turned 64 this year, spent his birthday quietly in Rome, where he prayed for Nigeria and its leaders.

He urged the public to embrace modesty and direct resources toward impactful causes.

“Peter Obi birthday decision is not about rejecting celebration, but about embracing purpose,” a close associate noted.

“He believes every naira spent should serve a lasting cause.”

This is not the first time Obi has made headlines for his minimalist lifestyle.

In 2017, he revealed that he owned only one wristwatch, which he had used for 17 years, and two pairs of black shoes.
