The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ini Ememobong, on Thursday warned the Nigerian Senate not to take the patience of citizens for granted.

He made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’.
Ememobong was responding to the Senate’s rejection of the proposed mandatory electronic transmission of election results.
He described Nigerians as patient yet vigilant, urging lawmakers to prioritise legislation that strengthens governance.
“If the Supreme Court has identified a gap and referred it back to the National Assembly, the primary duty is to legislate for the administration of this country,” Ememobong said.
“Nigerians are very patient people. You push them to the wall, they begin to make a hole, but somehow their minds change and you find them coming out straight for you. It happened during #EndSARS.”
He called on the political class to take the issue seriously, noting that the proposed amendment has been long awaited.
Ememobong highlighted voter apathy in previous elections, pointing out that only 26 per cent of registered voters participated in the last polls.
“The idea of democratic consolidation means every election should improve on the previous one in every material respect,” he added.

The PDP spokesman’s remarks follow the Senate’s Wednesday decision to turn down a proposed change to Clause 60, subsection 3 of the Electoral Amendment Bill, which would have required the electronic transmission of results.
