George made the remarks at the inauguration of the Dr Kabiru Turaki–led PDP State, Local Government Area, and Ward Executive Committees in Lagos on Friday.
He described the party’s national convention in Ibadan in November 2025 as a restoration of internal democracy and public confidence in the platform founded in 1998.
“What we have in our party today is a rebirth, a new hope, a new beginning; hence, in Lagos PDP, we won’t allow anti-democracy elements in the ruling All Progressives Congress to destabilise it,” George said.
The PDP leader accused the APC of coercing governors and lawmakers to defect while criticising its internal processes as undemocratic.
George also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission against interfering in the PDP’s internal leadership, citing historical examples of political instability in Nigeria’s past.
He condemned alleged irregularities in recent council polls in Abuja, alleging that security agents disrupted voting by firing tear gas and seizing ballot boxes, and warned that attempts to replicate such actions in 2027 would be resisted.
George attributed widespread hardship and dissatisfaction under the current administration to the APC’s anti-people policies, asserting that voters were angry, hungry, and ready for a change.
He maintained that no political coalition rivalled the PDP in structure or national spread and urged members not to panic over defections.
Highlighting the inauguration of the Lagos State Executive Committee led by Dr Amos Fawole, he said the new leadership would strengthen the party’s base in the state ahead of the next general elections.

George concluded with confidence that the PDP would return to power in 2027 and “take Nigeria to its rightful place in the comity of nations.”
