PDP Risks Losing 2027 if Internal Crisis Persists – Ajibade

PDP internal crisis 2027: Kamaldeen Ajibade warns party risks losing election unless unity is restored. Calls for reconciliation at Abuja summit

PDP internal crisis 2027 could cost the opposition party its shot at reclaiming national power, Kamaldeen Ajibade, the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, warned at a pivotal summit in Abuja.

Speaking at the PDP National Restoration Movement Summit, Ajibade cautioned that unless the party urgently resolves its internal divisions, it will struggle to mount a credible challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.

A divided PDP cannot win elections. A divided PDP cannot save Nigeria,” he said.

Ajibade emphasized that unity is not optional, but essential to the party’s political survival and its ability to offer Nigerians a compelling alternative.

He reflected on PDP’s historic contributions during its time in power, especially under President Olusegun Obasanjo, highlighting gains in democratic stability, telecoms, banking, and pension reforms.

However, he warned that past achievements would mean little if the party failed to heal itself from within.

“A fractured PDP cannot heal a fractured nation. Ambition is not a sin, but when it threatens the values and existence of the party, it becomes destructive,” Ajibade stated.

His remarks struck a chord with party members present at the summit, many of whom acknowledged the visible cracks within the PDP—factional disputes, leadership tussles, and grievances left unresolved since the 2023 general elections.

PDP internal crisis 2027 looms large in party circles, with insiders fearing that unresolved differences could implode again at a critical pre-election moment.

The summit, organized by the PDP National Restoration Movement, also featured contributions from the group’s National President, Joseph Onuoha, who acknowledged the strength of the PDP’s grassroots structure across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Onuoha expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the upcoming 2026 FCT election, urging members to put egos aside and focus on reconciliation and recovery.

“We have a strong foundation, but only unity can help us build a future,” he said.

Ajibade concluded with a rallying cry for cooperation:

“Let me say it plainly—restoring unity in the PDP is restoring survival for Nigeria.”

As political realignments continue ahead of 2027, the PDP internal crisis 2027 will remain a key issue.
