Adepoju, who is serving his second term in office, confirmed his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman and obtained on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
In the letter, the lawmaker expressed regret over the development but maintained that the situation within the party had become untenable and was beginning to affect his legislative performance.
He stated that ongoing disputes and internal divisions had created deep cracks within the PDP structure, making effective political engagement increasingly difficult.
“I regret how this resignation may be received by my millions of followers at home and abroad and I assure everyone that my next political move will be made known in due course,” he wrote.
Adepoju’s exit adds to a growing wave of political realignments within the PDP, as internal tensions continue to trigger defections and uncertainty among elected officials.
The lawmaker did not disclose his next political platform, leaving speculation over whether he may join another major party ahead of future electoral cycles.
