PDP Adamawa local committees inaugurated to rebuild grassroots structure ahead of elections
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has inaugurated caretaker committees for all 21 local government areas in Adamawa State, aiming to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of forthcoming elections.

Each committee includes a chairman, a secretary, and three ex-officials tasked with managing party affairs in line with the PDP constitution until proper elections are conducted.
Legal practitioner John Tunoh administered the oath of office to the interim officials, urging strict adherence to the provisions of both the PDP and national constitutions.
State interim PDP chairman Belmont Dogo highlighted the importance of the committees, stating that the party’s strength relies on solid grassroots organisation. “As local government caretaker committee members, you represent the engine room of the party in your respective areas,” Dogo said. “It is your responsibility to help reposition the party, rebuild confidence among our members, and prepare the ground for future successes.”
Inuwa Umar, caretaker chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, responded on behalf of the committees, pledging to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth.
The inauguration comes at a critical time for PDP in Adamawa, following significant defections to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri led the shift last month, formally leaving PDP on February 27, joined by his commissioners, advisers, appointees, and several members of the national and state House of Assembly.

The newly inaugurated committees are expected to stabilise the party at the grassroots and implement strategies to regain influence ahead of future political contests.
