Olatunji-Mohammed’s resignation, described as part of an Olatunji-Mohammed PDP resignation move, was contained in a letter dated 31 March 2026 and addressed to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman.
The letter was made available to DAILY POST, confirming his formal exit from the party.
In his resignation, the former council boss expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve during his tenure as caretaker chairman.
He also acknowledged his role as a National Delegate of the PDP, describing both positions as important milestones in his political career.
Olatunji-Mohammed explained that his decision was driven by a desire to pursue his political ambition in another platform, noting that he has already concluded plans to contest a federal legislative seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
He, however, declined to disclose the new political party he intends to join, stating that the announcement would be made at the appropriate time.
He emphasised that his priority is to ensure effective representation for his constituency, adding that his focus is on supporting what he considers the most capable candidate to lead at the federal level.
His remarks suggest a strategic repositioning as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the next election cycle.
When contacted, Olatunji-Mohammed reiterated that his interest lies in advancing the development of his constituency and contributing to the emergence of strong leadership.
His comments reflect a broader trend of political realignments among stakeholders in the region.
The development comes shortly after the departure of former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, from the PDP, indicating a series of high-profile exits from the party in recent times.
