Ogun ADC Warns Political Opportunists Against Disruption

Ogun ADC warns political opportunists to stop spreading falsehoods and urges party unity under the new INEC-recognised leadership of Mark and Aregbesola

Ogun ADC warns political opportunists against further attempts to destabilise the African Democratic Congress, following the recent recognition of Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a strongly worded statement on Friday, the Ogun State ADC Chairman, Otunba Olufemi Soluade, described dissenting voices within the party as “desperate and self-serving actors,” determined to undermine internal stability ahead of the 2027 elections.

INEC’s official communication on September 10, 2025, recognised the new national officers, seemingly ending weeks of internal uncertainty.

Soluade insisted the electoral body’s decision must be respected and called on party members to prioritise unity.

“Any contrary claims are misleading and harmful to the party’s progress at both national and state levels,” Soluade asserted.

He cautioned against the spread of falsehoods, labelling misinformation as a dangerous tool used by political rivals to sow confusion.

The ADC constitution, he reminded members, provides structured mechanisms for resolving grievances.

“No member should resort to cheap propaganda. That only serves to embolden our opponents,” he said.

Soluade warned that ongoing disputes at the national level risk fragmenting state chapters such as Ogun’s, where the party has made significant electoral gains.

He urged all stakeholders to rally behind the newly ratified leadership team.

Addressing recent media reports alleging legal restrictions against Mark and Aregbesola, Soluade cited clarification from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullah, who confirmed that no injunction was granted by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The case was adjourned to September 15 after the court declined an ex-parte motion.

“Those peddling lies about court orders are frustrated individuals seeking cheap relevance. The court never barred our leaders,” Soluade said.

He advised the press to verify all claims before publication, adding, “Fake news is the last resort of desperate mischief-makers.

Nigerians deserve the truth, not deception.”

Despite the internal tensions, the ADC remains focused on expanding its national presence, especially in strategic states like Ogun.
