In a recent interview on Television Continental, Obasa addressed questions about his political aspirations.
While acknowledging his personal ambitions, he emphasised that any move towards a higher office would be in line with consultation and consensus within his party, the All Progressives Congress.
“Every politician has ambitions, but you get to a stage where you cannot determine what comes next. If you believe in the party structure, you understand that it’s about consultation, consensus, and the leadership’s direction,” Obasa explained.
Obasa also suggested that he is unlikely to seek a fifth term as a legislator, signalling a potential shift in focus towards more senior roles within Lagos State or national politics.
His comments come amid speculation about who might succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu when his tenure ends in 2027.
Having served as Speaker since 2015, Mudashiru Obasa remains a powerful figure in Lagos politics.
