Kano APC chieftain praises Tinubu over rescue of 176 Kwara abductees, describing the operation as a major breakthrough against insecurity
All Progressives Congress chieftain in Kano State Musa Kwankwaso has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s role in securing the rescue of 176 abducted residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.

Kwankwaso, who also serves as Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, made the remarks in a statement released on Thursday, 6 August, following confirmation that the victims had regained their freedom after spending almost six months in captivity.

The rescue was announced on Wednesday by the Kwara State Government, which described the development as a major success and commended the President, security agencies and all those involved in the operation.
“As the 176 residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, who were abducted on February 3, 2026, regained their freedom, it shows that President Tinubu is clearly working to free the nation from the bondage of insecurity,” Kwankwaso said.
The APC stalwart said the operation brought relief to families who had endured months of uncertainty and anxiety, adding that recent successes by security agencies demonstrate that the Federal Government’s security strategy is beginning to deliver measurable results.
Kwankwaso also urged opposition parties to acknowledge progress where it occurs instead of dismissing government achievements.
“The opposition should learn to appreciate government efforts when there is a breakthrough in the security challenges facing the nation,” he said.
The Kano politician further commended National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State for Defence and the Service Chiefs for what he described as their commitment to restoring security across the country.
“This is a clear testament that sooner rather than later, the security challenges in the country will become a thing of the past,” Kwankwaso added.
Beyond the security milestone, Kwankwaso argued that sustained progress against criminal groups could shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election.
He expressed confidence that voters, particularly in Northern Nigeria, would reward Tinubu’s administration with another mandate if improvements in security continue.
“Northerners will no doubt come out en masse to vote for President Tinubu for a second term in 2027 because of his tremendous achievements,” he said.
The rescue forms part of a broader campaign by Nigerian security agencies to dismantle kidnapping and banditry networks that have targeted communities across the North Central and North West in recent years.

Although authorities have recorded several successful rescue operations, analysts maintain that sustained intelligence gathering, improved community policing and continued military pressure will be essential to achieving lasting security.
