Governor Oborevwori made the statement during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, where he spoke on political alignments ahead of the next general election.
He said President Tinubu is the only likely candidate with a direct affiliation to Delta State, describing the connection as a significant factor for voters in the state.
According to him, the President’s family relationship through First Lady Oluremi Tinubu makes him a natural choice for Delta residents.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among the candidates that will emerge, is the only one that has affiliation to Delta State,” Oborevwori said.
He added that the President’s connection to the state should influence voter sentiment, arguing that rejecting him would amount to going against family interest.
Oborevwori further described Tinubu as an in-law to the state, insisting that such ties should not be ignored in political decision-making.
“The man is an in-law here. So, it will be wrong to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair,” he said.
The governor also expressed confidence that communities in Delta State, including the Itsekiri ethnic group, would take the relationship into account when making political choices.
His remarks come amid early political positioning and debates over potential alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The comments are expected to generate further political reactions as discussions over zoning, loyalty and regional ties continue to shape Nigeria’s electoral landscape.
