In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, INEC clarified that it is not recruiting for any positions and described the advert as entirely fake.
The scam directs unsuspecting applicants to a bogus website—inecrecruitment.com.com—encouraging them to submit personal information.
INEC made it clear that this domain is not affiliated with the commission in any form.
“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal… But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read.
The commission warned that the advert was the work of criminal elements seeking to exploit job seekers.
It urged Nigerians not to engage with the post or the website in any way.
“The commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. INEC is NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” the electoral body reiterated.
This latest INEC recruitment scam comes at a time when unemployment rates are high, making the public especially vulnerable to schemes promising easy job opportunities.
Cybersecurity experts warn that submitting personal data on such fraudulent websites can lead to identity theft and financial fraud.

Members of the public are advised to always verify recruitment announcements through INEC’s official channels and to be cautious of third-party websites claiming to offer government job opportunities.
