The Niger Delta Development Commission leadership under Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku continues to make powerful strides in transforming the region’s communities, President Bola Tinubu has declared.

Speaking through Minister of Finance, Chief Wale Edun, at Dr. Ogbuku’s 50th Anniversary and book launch in Abuja, President Tinubu lauded the impactful projects that empower youths and uplift communities across the Niger Delta.
The event also marked the launch of two of Ogbuku’s books: Strategies and Imperative for Developing Niger Delta and Rethinking the Niger Delta—works that reflect his commitment to actionable strategies and visionary leadership.
“Dr. Ogbuku’s life is a testament to service, scholarship, and achievement,” Edun shared, echoing the President’s admiration for Ogbuku’s dedication to the economic heartbeat of Nigeria.
Highlighting the complexity and richness of the Niger Delta, Tinubu emphasized the administration’s focus on transparency, accountability, infrastructure investment, and community empowerment to build a sustainable future.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also praised the Niger Delta Development Commission leadership, recalling how the Commission successfully completed a major electricity project that had left four local government areas in Ondo State in darkness for over 14 years.
“This celebration is not just for years of service but for impactful leadership,” Akpabio said, commending Ogbuku’s focus, collaboration, and legacy-building efforts.
In response, Dr. Ogbuku expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for his trust and support.
He recalled their first meeting, where the President challenged him to restore NDDC’s credibility and performance—a charge that has fueled the current positive momentum.
“Without Mr. President’s confidence, this movement in the Niger Delta would not have been possible,” Ogbuku said, adding that the President remains personally engaged in overseeing the Commission’s progress.
