National Youth Manifesto in Agriculture Unveiled for 2025-2030

The National Youth Manifesto in Agriculture unveils a powerful roadmap empowering Nigerian youth to lead agricultural transformation from 2025 to 2030

The National Youth Manifesto in Agriculture took center stage on Tuesday as the Federal Government, alongside the Leonard and Nkiruka Okorkwo Foundation and Heinrich Böll Foundation, launched the revised 2025–2030 blueprint aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s agricultural landscape through youth leadership.

This groundbreaking manifesto puts young Nigerians not just as beneficiaries but as key architects and drivers of the nation’s agricultural future.

Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, described the manifesto as a bold, youth-owned roadmap designed to ignite a resilient and innovative agricultural sector.

Represented by Mrs. Safina Abdullah, Deputy Director of Planning and Policy Coordination, Kyari emphasized that this unveiling is far more than a symbolic gesture.

It is a clarion call to duty—a commitment to translate policy into real investments, opportunities, and action.

Anchored on eight strategic priorities—including agroecology, climate resilience, youth-responsive finance, agritech innovation, and gender inclusion—the manifesto aligns seamlessly with Nigeria’s National Agriculture Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP) and the revised National Gender Policy in Agriculture.

Kyari further assured that the Nigerian Youth in Agribusiness Call to Action, also launched at the event, will be integrated into national strategies, fostering empowerment through mechanisation, digital platforms, and extension services.

Nkiruka Okorkwo, Co-Founder of LANOF, praised the manifesto as a potent policy advocacy tool born from youth collaboration.

“This manifesto is a beacon for multi-sectoral partnership, technical support, and long-term investment,” she said, highlighting its alignment with the African Union’s Youth Agribusiness Call to Action.

Kyari closed the ceremony by challenging young Nigerians: “Own this process. Build enterprises, not just farms. Innovate solutions, not just demand opportunities.”
