Sunday Biggs criticises Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s performance, saying Plateau State needs stronger leadership ahead of the 2027 elections
The 2027 Plateau State governorship candidate on the platform of the Tanimu Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Garba Biggs, has criticised Governor Caleb Mutfwang over what he described as poor performance in the last three years.

Biggs, a retired permanent secretary in the Plateau State civil service, made the remarks in reaction to Governor Mutfwang’s third-year anniversary celebration on Sunday.
He stated that the governor has failed to deliver the level of leadership expected by residents and argued that Plateau State requires stronger governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued by his media team, Biggs maintained that his criticism was not personal, even though both men hail from Mangu Local Government Area.
He said he would not hesitate to speak the truth about governance issues affecting the state, despite their shared ethnic and local ties.
According to him, Plateau State citizens had high expectations when Mutfwang was elected, especially because his emergence was widely supported across ethnic and religious lines.
However, he claimed that the current realities in the state show widespread dissatisfaction with the administration’s performance.
“The people of Plateau State were joyful when they elected him as governor,” Biggs said.
“Yes, he is my kinsman, but what is his performance in office? The reality on the ground shows that the people are not happy with his performance.”
He argued that leadership should be judged strictly on results, not sentiment or personal affiliation.
Biggs further stated that no political office holder should remain in power without delivering measurable progress, regardless of background or origin.
He also criticised the level of development in Mangu Local Government Area, noting that the governor’s home constituency has not seen significant improvements under the current administration.
According to him, future leaders from the area must be chosen based on competence, capacity and proven ability to govern effectively.
“This is not about kinship. It is about the pedigree and capacity of the individual to perform,” he added.
