Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the 9th Expanded National MSME Clinic held in Katsina on Tuesday, confirmed the intervention, highlighting the government’s deepening support for local enterprise growth.
In addition to the already disbursed funds, Shettima revealed that 23 rural enterprises in the state had accessed over N112 million through the Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development (RAPID).
These initiatives, he said, reflect the administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive economic empowerment.
Further energising the event, Shettima announced President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a N250,000 unconditional grant for each outstanding MSME showcasing at the clinic.
“This is not just financial aid; it is a vote of confidence in the spirit of Nigerian enterprise,” he said.
The Vice President also detailed broader national schemes, including the N75 billion MSME Intervention Fund operated through the Bank of Industry, providing loans of up to N5 million at 9% annual interest to 75,000 small businesses.
He also referenced the N50 billion Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, supporting one million nano businesses with N50,000 each, spread across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
He emphasised another initiative — the N75 billion Manufacturers Fund — aimed at revitalising health-focused manufacturing businesses. Eligible enterprises may access loans of up to N1 billion, also at 9% interest.
Shettima praised Governor Dikko Radda for creating the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), calling it “a model of visionary governance that positions local businesses for global competitiveness.”
In response, Governor Radda pledged further state-level commitment. He announced a six-month mentorship and business tracking programme for all entrepreneurs attending the clinic. The initiative will include guidance on access to finance, certification, and capacity building, with all participants registered on the KASEDA MSME Portal.
Since its inception in 2023, KASEDA has supported over 100,000 beneficiaries across Katsina’s 34 LGAs. Radda disclosed that the state had set up a N5.5 billion MSME fund, with over N1 billion already disbursed to 701 businesses.
“This clinic is not a one-off. It is a starting point,” Radda asserted. “We are building a lasting ecosystem where every MSME has a clear pathway to growth and sustainability.”
