The announcement came on Tuesday following a State Executive Council meeting held in Uyo.
According to the official statement, the new policy takes effect from 1 August 2025 and marks a significant shift in the state’s commitment to youth development.
This follows the recent increment of the Akwa Ibom NYSC allowance for those serving within the state from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000.
The governor noted that the measure forms part of his administration’s Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative.
“This decision aligns with the Renewed Hope, ARISE Youth Support Initiative,” the government said in the statement.
“It is intended to cushion living expenses and promote the well-being of corps members.”
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on corps members during their service year, especially amid rising costs nationwide.
The government added that the allowance is subject to future review depending on economic realities.
Governor Eno has also approved the full reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikot Itie Idung, Nsit Atai.
This is one of several moves to improve infrastructure and service conditions for corps members in Akwa Ibom.
Describing the state as one of the safest for young Nigerians, the statement praised the corps members for their contributions in key sectors including education, health, agriculture and rural development.
A government source said the gesture reflects a leadership style built on compassion, inclusion and long-term investment in young people.
