Governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, during a telephone interview with DAILY POST.
The response followed widespread online claims alleging that Governor Makinde had settled on a successor within his political party ahead of the 2027 race.
One of the reports circulating on social media named former Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, as the governor’s alleged preferred candidate.
However, Dr Olanrewaju firmly denied the claim, stating that no such endorsement had been made and that consultations were still ongoing within the political structure.
“No, they are still consulting. They are still consulting on who the candidate would be. They are yet to announce,” he said.
He further emphasised that no individual has been selected or officially presented as the party’s preferred aspirant.
“I said that they are still making consultations. No announcement has been made. No candidate has been announced,” he added.
The denial comes amid growing political speculation and early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections in Oyo State, with various names being linked to potential succession plans within the ruling structure.
