PDP Wike intimidation allegations surface as Umar Sani accuses the FCT Minister of using his office to pressure rivals in the party crisis
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Sani, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of alleged intimidation tactics amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, describing his actions as politically motivated and unsustainable.

Sani made the remarks during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, 7 May 2026, where he addressed tensions surrounding competing factions within the PDP.
He alleged that Wike had been using his position as FCT Minister to frustrate political opponents, particularly by influencing or disrupting meetings held by rival groups within the party structure.
Describing the alleged actions as “the last kick of a dying horse,” Sani insisted that such tactics would not alter the current balance of power within the party’s internal leadership dispute.
He maintained that his faction remained confident in its legitimacy and was not deterred by what he characterised as repeated attempts to obstruct its activities.
Sani further stated that his group was awaiting the Certified True Copy of a recent Supreme Court judgment, which he said would play a key role in determining the next phase of the leadership dispute within the PDP.
According to him, Wike was fully aware of where party meetings were being held but had not succeeded in stopping them.
He also alleged that similar strategies were used in the past during the tenure of former acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, particularly when meetings considered unfavourable to Wike’s camp were scheduled.
Sani claimed that during those periods, party offices were sometimes sealed under administrative justifications such as unpaid rent and other disputes, describing the pattern as a recurring political strategy.
“We are not bothered. He knows we have been holding meetings. He knows we have been holding NEC meetings. So he can’t do nothing,” Sani said.
He added that ongoing efforts were simply signs of political desperation, insisting that his faction was confident of eventual recognition following the court’s final documentation.
