APC Ajaka Ward 1 denies Idris Kashim’s defection claim, insisting he was never a registered member and threatens legal action
The executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajaka Ward 1 has firmly rejected reports of a defection by Idris Husseini Kashim, insisting that he has never been a registered member of the party in the ward.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the ward executives described the purported resignation as “social media propaganda aimed at gaining cheap political points.”
The leadership said a comprehensive review of both the old party register and the ongoing electronic registration list revealed no record of Kashim.
“We do not know him as a member of the APC in Ajaka Ward 1 from available records,” the statement read.
“The old party register was thoroughly searched and even the comprehensive list of the ongoing e-registration has no records of the imposter.”
The executives emphasised that party membership is a legal and procedural matter, not a claim that can be asserted through social media.
Consequently, they have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Kashim to retract his resignation letter, warning of potential legal action if he fails to comply.
“We categorically submit that the said Idris Husseini Kashim has never related with us politically as a ward,” the statement continued.
“We completely and unequivocally disassociate ourselves from the purported resignation aimed at gaining cheap political points.”
The statement was jointly signed by Idris Ali, Ward Chairman, and Hassan Mamuda, Ward Secretary, on behalf of the executive members, stakeholders, and general members of the APC in Ajaka Ward 1.

Political analysts say the firm response reflects the APC’s commitment to maintaining internal discipline and clarifying misinformation that could undermine party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
