Festus Keyamo says Tinubu’s 2027 election victory will be a coronation, arguing that APC’s achievements will secure voter support
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure a decisive victory in the 2027 general election, describing the contest as more of a coronation than a conventional election.

Keyamo made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, where he expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would retain power after the next presidential election.
The minister said his prediction was based on what he described as demographic calculations and the performance of the Tinubu administration, insisting that the government’s achievements had strengthened its support base among Nigerians.
“I want to make a profound closing statement. Not out of arrogance. Not out of overconfidence. But out of pure demographic calculations. The 2027 election is a coronation, not an election,” Keyamo said.
He stressed that his remarks were not intended as an expression of overconfidence but as his assessment of the political landscape ahead of the election.
Keyamo also dismissed the chances of opposition figures, including Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), questioning their ability to build a winning coalition against Tinubu.
“Everywhere shall go blurred. I’m looking around. Between you and me, where will Obi’s votes come from? I can’t see it. I don’t see where it will come from,” he stated.
The minister’s comments come as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 elections, with opposition groups working to form alliances while the APC highlights the achievements of the Tinubu administration as part of its re-election strategy.
Meanwhile, opposition figures have continued to criticise the government over economic challenges and governance issues, setting the stage for a highly contested political battle ahead of the polls.
