Joe Igbokwe ADC criticism escalates as APC chieftain calls ADC supporters clueless kids following INEC protest in Abuja
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has sparked controversy after describing supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “clueless kids” who, in his words, should be “tamed and trained,” following a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja on Wednesday.

Joe Igbokwe’s remarks came shortly after ADC members staged a peaceful demonstration at INEC headquarters over the commission’s handling of an internal leadership dispute within the party.
During the protest, some supporters were heard chanting “Tinubu must go,” a slogan that drew sharp political reactions.
Reacting via his official Facebook page, Joe Igbokwe condemned the chants and questioned the basis for such demands, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had not completed his first term in office.
He further escalated his criticism, insisting that the protesters lacked political maturity and understanding of democratic timelines.
In a pointed statement, he described them as “street urchins and touts,” arguing that their actions reflected ignorance of governance processes.
Joe Igbokwe slams ADC supporters stirred reactions across political circles, with supporters of opposition parties pushing back against what they see as inflammatory language from a senior ruling party figure.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress has accused the Tinubu administration of allegedly attempting to frustrate its upcoming national convention by restricting access to key public venues in Abuja.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that requests to use Eagle Square had not been acknowledged, while a separate application to use the Velodrome was reportedly declined due to scheduling commitments for a cycling event.
ADC maintained that it remains committed to holding its convention, though it has not yet disclosed an alternative venue, deepening uncertainty around its internal preparations.
