Prof. Joash Amupitan made the remarks during a courtesy visit by officials of the Nigerian Air Force to the electoral body’s headquarters in Abuja, where the military institution pledged to assist with logistics and security during the polls.
According to Prof. Joash Amupitan, elections can only succeed when logistics are effectively managed.
The INEC chairman noted that past elections have faced logistical challenges, adding that the commission must explore all available resources to strengthen its operations.
Prof. Joash Amupitan said the INEC Air Force support for 2027 elections could help address some of the logistical difficulties experienced in previous polls.
The chairman explained that improved collaboration with the military could enhance the movement of sensitive materials and personnel during elections.
“An election can only be as good as its logistics. Given the challenges we have encountered, it is clear that INEC may not have fully utilised the logistics capacity available within the military,” Prof. Joash Amupitan said.
The INEC chairman added that discussions with Nigerian Air Force officials highlighted several practical ways both institutions could work together to strengthen election planning and execution.
Prof. Joash Amupitan expressed optimism that closer cooperation between INEC and the Nigerian Air Force, alongside other security agencies, would support a more efficient electoral process in 2027.
