Senator Akume described the council as an invaluable national asset whose collective expertise remains essential to improving policy formulation and sustaining continuity in government.

He said this year’s theme, centred on institutional memory and nation building, was timely as Nigeria continues to confront policy inconsistency and recurring gaps in implementation.

According to a statement signed by Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Segun Imohiosen, Senator Akume said that nothing can replace experience.

He noted that CORFEPS members embody decades of administrative knowledge and that the present administration is committed to leveraging their insights for public sector reforms.

Senator Akume highlighted recent steps by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to integrate retired senior technocrats into national service, including the appointment of some CORFEPS members to strategic positions in ministries, agencies and commissions.

He added that his office would continue working with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to advance proposals submitted by the council.

Earlier, Chairman of the Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries Yayale Ahmed reaffirmed the council’s readiness to continue providing patriotic service.
