ADC Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi Slams APC Harshly

Bolaji Abdullahi slams APC harshly, alleging failure in governance and warning of electoral risks ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has strongly criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the party has failed Nigerians and cannot secure victory in a free and fair election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in an extensive interview, Abdullahi argued that Nigeria’s constitution does not guarantee an automatic second term for any president, stressing that leaders must continually renew their mandate through the ballot box.

The Bolaji Abdullahi slams APC harshly remarks came as he accused the ruling party of worsening insecurity, deepening poverty, and weakening democratic accountability across the country.

He alleged that the APC administration has presided over rising insecurity and public dissatisfaction, claiming that many Nigerians are “unhappy with the direction of the country” and have lost confidence in the current leadership.

Abdullahi further intensified his criticism by questioning recent legislative actions, including laws he described as undermining accountability in electoral disputes.

He argued that such developments risk normalising unethical practices in governance and weakening democratic standards.

The ADC spokesman also called on civil society organisations, labour unions, and the media to play a more active role in holding government accountable, warning that opposition politicians alone cannot sustain democratic pressure.

According to him, institutions such as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) must re-engage in defending public interest beyond wage-related demands.

Secondary highlights of the interview focused on broader concerns around insecurity, economic hardship, and social welfare, with Abdullahi criticising government interventions such as food distribution programmes, which he said do not address structural poverty.

He also outlined the ADC’s ideological position, stating that the party intends to prioritise investment in human capital, education, healthcare, and job creation rather than focusing solely on gross domestic product growth.

Abdullahi maintained that any meaningful reform must protect vulnerable citizens, arguing in favour of targeted subsidies rather than blanket removals that, according to him, disproportionately affect low-income Nigerians.

He added that the ADC will participate actively in all elections in 2027 and position itself as a leading opposition force, while reiterating that he has no intention of contesting for the governorship of Kwara State.

The remarks are expected to further intensify political debate as Nigeria edges closer to the 2027 election cycle, with opposition figures increasingly sharpening criticism of the ruling administration.
