Biggs Mutfwang Plateau criticism as Sunday Garba Biggs slams Governor Mutfwang over governance failure and calls for stronger leadership in Plateau State
In Plateau State, Nigeria, Sunday Garba Biggs, the 2027 governorship candidate of the Tanimu Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), publicly criticised Governor Caleb Mutfwang over what he described as poor performance in office, marking a sharp escalation in intra-party political tensions.

The criticism came as Biggs, a retired permanent secretary in the Plateau State civil service and a prominent political figure from Mangu Local Government Area, issued a statement through his media team assessing the governor’s third-year anniversary in office.
Biggs stated that Governor Mutfwang had failed to deliver the level of leadership expected by residents of the state, insisting that the administration had not met public expectations on security, economic stability, and development.
He further argued that the governor did not deserve a second term in 2027.
In a strongly worded statement, Biggs described leadership as a responsibility rather than a matter of sentiment, emphasising that personal or ethnic ties should not override performance in public office.
He noted that although Governor Mutfwang is his kinsman, he would not hesitate to speak openly about what he called governance shortcomings.
The Biggs Mutfwang Plateau criticism also highlighted concerns about perceived underdevelopment in Mangu Local Government Area, which both men hail from.
Biggs claimed that the area had not witnessed meaningful development despite producing the sitting governor, a situation he described as disappointing and unacceptable.
He argued that Plateau State requires stronger and more competent leadership capable of addressing insecurity and economic hardship, adding that many residents are increasingly dissatisfied with the current administration’s performance.
Biggs further stressed that political office holders must be held accountable regardless of their background or connections, warning that failure to prioritise competence over sentiment could undermine public trust in governance.
