Baba-Ahmed Tinubu resignation call intensifies as PRP leader urges President Tinubu to step down over rising insecurity in Nigeria

Baba-Ahmed, a former aide to President Tinubu, made the call during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, where he criticised the administration’s handling of security challenges affecting lives and property nationwide.
He said the President has failed to demonstrate adequate control over the escalating security situation, urging Nigerians to reject him at the next election cycle.
“It’s clear Tinubu has no handle on the escalating menace. Everything that needed to be said by the media, National Assembly, and civil society have been said,” he said.
The resignation call came as he argued that the worsening insecurity had made large parts of the country vulnerable to criminal activity.
He further claimed that the scale of attacks on communities, including schoolchildren, reflected a deep governance failure that required urgent political accountability.
“In a civilised society, Tinubu’s record on insecurity should have cost him his seat a long time ago,” he added.
Baba-Ahmed maintained that his position was not partisan but a democratic responsibility, insisting that leadership must be evaluated based on protection of citizens.
He questioned the need to wait until further deterioration before taking political action, stating that Nigerians were already experiencing severe insecurity across regions.

The remarks are expected to intensify political debate ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition figures continue to criticise the administration’s security record.
