Aisha Yesufu has called on supporters to maintain strict focus on the Peter Obi 2027 election, urging them to ignore all other issues until the NDC candidate is sworn in as president
In Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday 18 June 2026, prominent activist and Nigeria Democratic Congress member Aisha Yesufu urged her supporters to maintain absolute focus on securing victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election.

Yesufu, who recently lost out in the NDC primary for the Federal Capital Territory senatorial ticket, delivered the message via a post on X, calling for disciplined “tunnel vision” ahead of the polls.
“My dear supporters, remember, we have moved on and focused on the bigger picture,” she wrote. “Any conversation that is not about the 2027 presidential election and how to get Peter Obi elected and sworn into office, please ignore.”
She added: “After the 2027 General Elections we will have the luxury to respond if it is worth our time. For now we will continue with our tunnel vision on the presidential election.”
The activist’s directive comes as opposition forces continue to realign following Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso’s move to the NDC.
Yesufu, a vocal supporter of Obi since the 2023 election cycle, is known for her grassroots mobilisation and strong advocacy for good governance.
Her message is seen as an attempt to instil discipline within Obi’s support base and prevent energy from being diverted into internal party squabbles or unrelated controversies.
With the 2027 polls still more than a year away, early strategic focus is viewed as crucial for building momentum.
Political observers note that Yesufu’s stance reflects a growing realisation among opposition figures that unity and singular purpose will be essential to challenge the ruling party effectively.
Her call for restraint until after the election also signals confidence in Peter Obi’s prospects while discouraging premature distractions.
