Adeyinka Alli Ekiti Governorship Bid Gains Boost as APC, PDP, LP Members Join ADC

Adeyinka Alli Ekiti governorship bid gains momentum as APC, PDP, and LP members defect to ADC, backing his 2026 ambition

Adeyinka Alli Ekiti governorship ambition received a significant boost on Wednesday as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to support his 2026 candidacy.

The defectors, who gathered in Itapa Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, said their decision to join ADC was driven by Alli’s track record and commitment to meaningful change.

“We are from different parties – APC, PDP, LP and SDP. Our decision to cross to ADC is in a bid to support the governorship aspiration of a kinsman and philanthropist, Adeyinka Alli,” said Alice Olorunwa, one of the defectors.

ADC Deputy State Chairman, Dare Adekolu, welcomed the new members, assuring them that the party was building a strong coalition platform poised to win the 2026 governorship election and bring better governance to Ekiti State.

In his formal declaration speech, Adeyinka Alli said he joined the race to offer a transformative leadership that the people of Ekiti are yearning for.

“Our people are yearning for change from the present situation. The economic state of Ekiti is comatose. Nothing is working under the present administration,” he said.

Alli criticised the current government for mismanaging resources, citing poor road infrastructure and the appointment of over 3,000 aides “without job descriptions” as examples of misplaced priorities.

Outlining his vision, Alli pledged to revamp the state’s education system, develop agriculture for food security, explore the state’s rich rock formations for tourism revenue, and aggressively pursue industrialisation and infrastructure development.

“The current administration has done its best, but that best is far from what Ekiti deserves,” Alli added. “We’re ready to offer a total turnaround.”

ADC State Chairman, Omolayo Ilesanmi, praised Alli’s courage and vision, describing him as a capable leader with the skills to rescue Ekiti from decades of underdevelopment.

“No doubt, he has all it takes to be governor of Ekiti. We will give him our full support,” Ilesanmi said.
