Adeleke endorses Tinubu 2027 re-election bid, marking a surprising show of support from the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.

Governor Ademola Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday via his official X handle, following a PDP leadership caucus meeting held in Osogbo on Monday.
“Our party in Osun has also endorsed President @officialABAT for re-election in 2027, recognising him as a proud son of our state,” Adeleke wrote.
The endorsement comes amid ongoing speculation about Adeleke’s possible defection from the PDP.
Addressing the rumours directly, the governor reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, stating that it had given him the platform to serve the people of Osun.
He also revealed that the party had unanimously backed his second-term bid for the 2026 governorship election.
“Yesterday, I met with the @OfficialPDPNig Leadership Caucus in Osogbo after weeks of consultations with stakeholders across Osun — from traditional rulers and civil servants to market leaders and grassroots party members,” he stated.
Adeleke’s move has added a new twist to the national political landscape, as the endorsement of a sitting APC president by a key PDP figure is rare and politically significant.
Political analysts believe this could signal a shift in party alignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Despite the endorsement, Adeleke emphasised that he remained committed to the PDP.
“I’m pleased to share the resolutions: I remain in the PDP, the party that gave me the platform to serve the good people of Osun. I have been unanimously endorsed by the Osun PDP for a second term in 2026,” he concluded.
The governor’s visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos last month had triggered intense speculation, which this latest development has only deepened.
