ADC Dismisses Reports of PRP Negotiations, calling reports false as it focuses on court case and defending Nigeria’s democratic process
The African Democratic Congress has firmly rejected reports suggesting it is in discussions with the Peoples Redemption Party ahead of a pending court judgment, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said its coalition leadership is not currently engaged in talks with any political organisation.
The clarification reinforces the ADC denies PRP talks stance amid growing speculation within Nigeria’s opposition space.
“Our attention has been drawn to a story in circulation that the African Democratic Congress is in talks with another political party, specifically the Peoples Redemption Party, in anticipation of its court judgment. We would like to state categorically that this is not true,” the statement read.
The party emphasised that its immediate focus remains on challenging what it described as an unlawful action taken against its leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission and alleged agents of the ruling party.
According to Abdullahi, overturning the action through the courts is essential to preserving the rule of law and protecting Nigeria’s multiparty democratic system.
He described the moment as critical, warning against any attempt to undermine democratic institutions.
While reiterating openness to broader opposition collaboration, the party stressed that it has no intention of abandoning its platform or entering premature political arrangements.
“Any suggestion that we are considering abandoning the ADC is preemptive and speculative, and should be ignored,” the statement added.
Despite concerns about pressure on institutions, the party expressed confidence that the judiciary would act independently in what it called a defining moment for the country’s democracy.
