Ologbondiyan Blames APC for ADC Crisis Allegations

Ologbondiyan alleges APC influence in ADC crisis, claiming efforts are aimed at weakening opposition and undermining multi-party democracy

Kola Ologbondiyan, Media Adviser to the embattled National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is behind ongoing tensions within opposition parties, framing the situation as an ADC crisis APC allegation during a televised interview.

Ologbondiyan made the claim on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he addressed internal divisions within the ADC and its reported challenges with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He argued that the difficulties faced by the ADC, alongside similar disputes in other political parties, are being influenced by efforts to weaken opposition structures in the country.

According to him, the alleged interference reflects a broader pattern aimed at limiting the effectiveness of alternative political voices.

Ologbondiyan maintained that the ongoing disputes within the ADC are not isolated, suggesting that they are part of a wider political environment where opposition parties face coordinated pressure.

He described the situation as concerning for Nigeria’s democratic development.

He further stated that rather than witnessing growth in the political system since the return to democratic rule in 1999, the country appears to be experiencing internal fractures that could undermine pluralism.

He warned that such developments risk shifting the nation towards a less competitive political landscape.

According to him, protests and reactions from ADC stakeholders are intended to draw attention to what he described as attempts to divide the party and weaken its structure.

He expressed concern that continued division within opposition parties could have long-term implications for democratic balance.

Ologbondiyan concluded by emphasising the need to preserve a multi-party system, noting that a healthy democracy depends on the presence of strong and functional opposition capable of engaging constructively with the ruling party.
