ADC Coalition 2027 Elections: Kaduna Insists North Will Rally

ADC coalition 2027 elections bid gains momentum as Kaduna leaders insist the North will rally behind their candidate to unseat President Tinubu

The ADC coalition 2027 elections campaign is gathering steam, with the party’s Kaduna State chapter declaring that the North will unite behind its candidate to replace President Bola Tinubu.

In an interview with our correspondent, Darius Kurah, Publicity Secretary of the ADC Coalition in Kaduna, dismissed claims of factionalisation.

He described the coalition as “diverse but united” and committed to rescuing Nigeria’s democracy from “manipulation, intimidation, and abuse of power.”

Kurah highlighted a major political shift in the state, noting that the entire structure of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Kaduna Chapter had collapsed into the ADC during a high-level meeting chaired by elder statesman Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

The event, attended by key political stakeholders across party lines, was described as a landmark move toward inclusivity and people-driven governance.

On the recent by-elections won by the APC, Kurah alleged that the victories were tainted by “state-sponsored intimidation, vote-buying, and misuse of security agencies.” He insisted that in a free and fair contest, the ruling party would not win in 2027.

Addressing Nigeria’s wider political climate, Kurah criticised the culture of thuggery and vote-buying, urging all parties to respect the will of the people.

“Elections should be about ideas, not intimidation,” he said, adding that INEC and security agencies must remain neutral.

On whether the coalition has a candidate strong enough to challenge Tinubu, Kurah was confident:

“We will present a candidate who is credible, competent, and inclusive — one who can defeat Tinubu convincingly in a fair election.”

He argued that while APC wields financial muscle, the coalition boasts “genuine grassroots energy, youth support, and integrity,” which money cannot buy.

He also accused the current government of politicising anti-corruption agencies, warning against selective justice.

Outlining what the coalition would do differently if elected, Kurah promised to restore rule of law, prioritise national security, empower small businesses, decentralise governance, and deliver transparency.

“No more government by press release and propaganda; we will govern by performance,” he declared.

On Tinubu’s reported infrastructural projects in the North, Kurah was dismissive: “Infrastructure development is a duty, not a favour. Much of it exists more in newspaper headlines than in reality.”
