Alhaji Gambo Lawan is a seasoned Nigerian politician with a long history of engagement in public service.
Born in Kareto, Borno State, he has held various positions at both local and national levels.
Lawan served as the Chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and also as the Chairman of the defunct Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM), a significant political party during Nigeria’s transitional period.
A prominent figure in Borno State politics, he has been a governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), notably in 2015, where he pursued his aspiration through legal challenges.
Gambo Lawan is known for his belief in “politics without bitterness” and his consistent advocacy for peace and development, particularly in his home state which has faced significant challenges.
