Abdullahi Idris Umar is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who has contributed significantly to both the legislative and executive arms of government.
Born on December 28, 1959, he holds a Bachelor of Laws degree. His political career began in the House of Representatives, where he represented the Yamaltu-Deba constituency from 1999 to 2007.
Following his time in the lower chamber, he was elected as a Senator representing Gombe Central constituency from 2007 to 2011, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Further demonstrating his versatile political experience, Abdullahi Idris Umar was appointed as the Minister of Transport, serving in this capacity from 2011 to 2015.
