Project Coordinator Hajiya Ladi Mohammed explained that the funds were released through the Conditional Cash Transfer component to enhance school enrollment and facilitate transitions for girls.
Each beneficiary received N40,000, divided into N15,000 for registration and N25,000 for transition, with personal bank and identification cards distributed to about 80 per cent of the recipients.
“We would have completed the distribution by now, but the delay is due to school closures. Preparations are in place to continue distribution after schools resume,” Mohammed said.
She added that students achieving at least 75 per cent attendance in the first term will receive an additional N10,000.
Under the AGILE Small and Medium Grant, 833 schools are earmarked for renovation. Phase one has rehabilitated 252 schools, while 256 schools have been validated for phase two.
In addition, Governor Bala Mohammed has approved N793.6 million to cover external examination registration fees for 25,410 indigent students, including NECO, JAMB, NABTEB, and NBAIS exams.
Mr. Jalaludeen Usman, Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, said the initiatives aim to boost enrollment, support student transitions, and reduce financial burdens for vulnerable learners.
He also highlighted complementary interventions under the Better Education Service Delivery for All project, including the provision of 80 boreholes, 90 open wells, and school toilets.
