Ibrahim Shehu Shema is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who served as the Governor of Katsina State for two terms, from 2007 to 2015. Born on September 22, 1957, he obtained degrees in law and business administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Prior to his governorship, Shema held significant roles, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Katsina State during Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s tenure as governor, and later as the Deputy National Chairman (North-West Zone) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His administration as governor was known for its focus on infrastructure, education, and human capital development, with many describing him as a financially prudent leader.
