Jigawa State Anniversary: Government Declares Work-Free Day

Jigawa State anniversary marked with a work-free day to celebrate 34 years of progress, peace, and unity, as residents join in prayers and festivities

The announcement was made through a statement by the Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, who emphasized that the holiday allows residents and public servants to participate in community events and reflect on the state’s progress.

Carved out of the old Kano State, Jigawa was established alongside Yobe, Enugu, Bauchi, and Kogi in a national exercise aimed at administrative efficiency and regional development.

“The declaration aims to allow people to properly participate in the anniversary events and communal prayers without work distractions,” Dagaceri stated.

Citizens were encouraged to celebrate peacefully, offer prayers for the state and the nation, and show gratitude for the relative peace and growth achieved over the years.

As Jigawa enters its 35th year, the government urged the people to uphold unity, support developmental goals, and remain hopeful for a brighter and more prosperous future.
