The announcement was made by APC chairman Rejoice Otobo during Wike’s ongoing ‘thank you visit’ to the state.
Otobo described the political situation in Rivers as “unfortunate” and said the party would follow the minister’s guidance.
“We await instructions from you on the 2027 elections concerning Rivers State. Wherever you ask us to go, there we shall go; whatever you ask us to do is what we will do,” he told supporters.
The Peoples Democratic Party counterpart in Ahoada West, Ikechukwu Obuzor, also pledged loyalty to Wike, asserting that the minister had given residents hope and that the constituency would deliver results in 2027.
Local government leaders and lawmakers joined in commending Wike’s leadership.
Ahoada Local Government Chairman Chita Eugene called Wike the “political Field Marshall of the Southsouth,” praising his development initiatives and effective governance.
House of Representatives member Victor Obuzor similarly credited Wike for transforming the local government and Rivers State during his tenure as governor.
Support groups, including the Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, also endorsed Wike’s influence and reaffirmed their commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection campaign.
Addressing the crowd, Wike indicated that Governor Similalayi Fubara would not secure a second term, citing a lack of capacity to lead.
He emphasised the importance of restoring Rivers State’s political influence and called for unity across party lines.
“Already, Rivers State is being respected because of what we are doing in the FCT. We need a leader we can trust to drive our dear state to glory and progress,” Wike said.
He urged residents to support effective governance, consolidate unity, and act collectively ahead of 2027.
Wike described the state’s politics as inclusive, highlighting the organic unity among local stakeholders and cautioning against repeating past political mistakes.
He added that leadership must be earned through trust, not assumed.
