Rivers APC demands national publicity secretary Morka resign over controversial comments on party leadership and legislative crisis
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called for the immediate resignation of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Morka, citing remarks he made on national television regarding the party’s leadership crisis in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Darlington Nwauju, Rivers APC described Morka’s comments on the alleged legislative overreach against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Prof (Mrs) Ngozi Odu as embarrassing and misleading.
Morka had questioned the legitimacy of Nwauju, the legally recognised party spokesperson, further casting doubt on the party’s internal communications.
The statement cited ongoing legal validations, noting that previous court rulings nullified purported dissolutions of Rivers APC executives and condemned unauthorised congresses.
The party accused Morka of disregarding lawful court orders and promoting divisiveness rather than internal cohesion.
“Since we are practising a constitutional democracy and our party is built on progressive ideals, Mr Morka has lost the moral high ground to continue as a national officer. His interview promoted a personal narrative over the party’s lawful position,” the statement read.
Rivers APC warned that Morka’s conduct undermined the party’s credibility, questioned his loyalty, and risked eroding public confidence in the APC ahead of upcoming elections.
The chapter called on the National Working Committee and legal bodies, including the NBA and Legal Practitioners Privileges Council, to review Morka’s actions.

The party further reiterated its support for Governor Fubara, stressing that the internal crisis in Rivers State must be resolved in line with court rulings and the party’s constitution, warning that any attempts to replicate the events of 2019 would be resisted.
