PDP Chieftain Ogidi Warns Wike of Possible Sanctions

PDP chieftain Emmanuel Ogidi says the party will sanction erring members, particularly Nyesom Wike, amid the party’s ongoing crisis ahead of 2027

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emmanuel Ogidi, has hinted that the party could sanction Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike over his alleged activities against the party.

Ogidi made the disclosure on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television while discussing the crisis within the opposition party.

He described the situation as internal sabotage and said the PDP had moved beyond the demands raised by Wike’s camp.

According to him, the PDP belongs to its members and supporters and cannot be controlled by an individual or group.

“You can’t serve two masters. He (Wike) is supposed to be serving us in PDP but he is serving APC,” Ogidi said.

He alleged that Wike’s continued association with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was aimed at weakening the PDP.

“This is a threat to democracy. APC is using him to destroy democracy and it’s deliberate but we are very conscious of that and very soon you will hear what will happen,” he added.

Ogidi said the PDP would no longer tolerate indiscipline or actions capable of undermining the party.

He warned that members found to be working against the interests of the party would face sanctions, stressing that reconciliation should not be interpreted as an absence of discipline.

The PDP chieftain, however, maintained that the party remains strong despite defections, legal disputes and disagreements over zoning.
