PDP Approves Caretaker Committees in Five States

PDP approves caretaker committees in Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Imo, and Osun States to manage party affairs for up to 90 days

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved caretaker committees for Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Imo, and Osun States.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, stated that the National Working Committee (NWC) acted on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) under Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025).

In Delta State, Prof. Sylvester Monye was appointed Chairman, with Dr. Michael Tidi serving as Secretary.

Other members include Ujor Ucheonny, Victor Ofobrukueta, Johnbull Kenairu, Jackson Agbor, Onega Mike, Chief Ekiyor Charles, Vero Egbuna, Chukwunonso Ndah, and Walter Uguoye.

Steve Oruruo will chair the Enugu State committee, with Martin Ugwuamadieze as Secretary and members Ugwu Godswill, Lilian Ugwuoke, Anikezie Michael, Cosmas Ugwu, Basil Aguigwo, Chief Cosmas Onyia, and Peter Ajah.

In Imo State, Chief John Okere was appointed Chairman, Magnus Amadi as Secretary, and Kenneth Ejiofor, Chinonso Odoemelam, Celestine Uwah, Maria Osuigwe, Lady Love Orum, Promise Oneogwe, and Hygienus Asoluka as members.

Rivers State’s committee will be led by Chairman Ogbam Ojimah, with Dr. Field Baribeful Nkor as Secretary and members Richard Enyia Victor, Grace Boma, Princess Isioma Elenwa, Eldred Owupele-Orubo, Austin Wali, Ada Udong, and Edward David.

In Osun State, Tunde Tijani will serve as Chairman, Bamidele Seyi-Abiola as Secretary, and members Lateef Mumini Obide, Alhaji Sarafa Gbadamosi, Adewoyin Babatunde, Ajileye Wasiu Aderemi, and Oluresi Adebanji.

Shan explained that the committees will manage party affairs in their respective states as outlined in Section 21(2)(a-b) of the PDP Constitution.

He noted that the tenure of the committees shall not exceed 90 days or continue beyond the election of a new Executive Committee.

He added that committee members must operate strictly within the provisions of the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
