Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa says APC candidates will emerge through consensus, stressing unity and warning against political rumours ahead of 2027 elections

The governor made the statement on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the APC stakeholders’ meeting held at The International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome, Akure.

He noted that the clarification was necessary amid widespread rumours and insinuations surrounding the primaries for House of Assembly and National Assembly positions.

“Let me quickly correct this because we know in the political climate there are many falsehoods, lies, insinuations, and assumptions that fly around and try to create cracks and divisions. I want to emphasise that I have not promised anyone a ticket. I have not said I will deny anyone a return ticket,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

He added that party leaders would actively participate in selecting candidates, reinforcing that the APC would explore a consensus arrangement to maintain party cohesion.

The governor urged members to remain disciplined, protect the party’s achievements, and avoid actions that could encourage factionalism.

He emphasised that APC remains the most viable party in Ondo State and called on members to work together to strengthen its position.

Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the importance of the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, which is critical for the party’s future ahead of the January 31 deadline.
