APC leaders in Ibadan North West reject Olusola Adekanbi’s chairmanship, urging investigation and fair representation in party structures
Prominent chieftains and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West local government area, Oyo State, have rejected the inauguration of Mr Olusola Adekanbi as the party’s local government chairman.

APC Chairman in Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, recently inaugurated chairmen in several local government areas.
However, some chieftains in Ibadan North West described Adekanbi’s appointment as an imposition.
The faction affirmed Mr Rahmon Ojuolape as the legitimate chairman, citing a congress conducted by Mr Ajuwon Yusuff and Mr Olaitan Petter, which was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel.
In a protest letter signed by over 20 party leaders, including Alhaji Biodun Adeleye, Apostle Dada, Chief Segun Adeleke, Hon Tajudeen Adelabu, and Hon Funke Olanrewaju, the group alleged that a minority faction led by Alhaji Adewolu Oluokun and influenced by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle dominated party structures, undermining principles of rotation and inclusivity.
The letter stated: “Only one list emerged during the local government congress, producing Rahman Ojuolape as chairman and Tajudeen Salako as secretary. Despite issues in wards 2, 3, 4, 7, and 11, the faction favoured a minority list, using Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle’s influence. Failure to resolve this may lead to suspension of ward and local government activities.”
Mr Wasiu Olawale Sadare, the state APC Publicity Secretary, said he would investigate the matter.
“I have not heard it. I am hearing it for the first time. It is strange to me, but if you allow me to investigate, I will find out what is happening. Then the party can issue a release if the need arises,” he said.
