She spoke on Sunday in Ile-Ife, Osun State, shortly after being conferred with the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua during the 10th coronation anniversary of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The event drew former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President’s wife Nana Shettima, ex-First Lady Patience Jonathan, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, former House Speaker Dimeji Bankole, and several traditional rulers.
Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Ooni for the title, saying, “Nigeria’s joy has come; those wondering how we want to do it, we will show them how things are being done. By 2026, Nigeria will be in prosperity; we will be lending to other nations.”
Speaking in a mix of Yoruba and English, she added, “It is important to say it here at the source of the Yoruba race today, that during the administration of President Bola Tinubu, people will wonder how he has been able to achieve such milestones.”
Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, praised Senator Tinubu for her support since his ascension, while the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, prayed for the Ooni’s long reign and for wise leadership in Nigeria.
Governor Adeleke highlighted Ile-Ife’s transformation under the Ooni’s leadership, noting the state government’s role in infrastructure development, including 14 completed roads and the upcoming first-ever flyover in the historic city.
