Bauchi APC Candidate Dissolves 20 LGA Campaign Teams Amid Shake-Up

Bauchi APC campaign shake-up sees Mohammed Abubakar dissolve 20 LGA structures as the party prepares for a fresh phase ahead of 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State for the 2027 election, Mohammed Abubakar (SAN), has announced a major campaign shake-up, dissolving his local government campaign structures across all 20 local government areas of the state.

The decision was disclosed on Thursday, July 10, 2026, in a statement issued by the M.A. Strategy Committee and signed by its Head of Media, Umar Ibrahim Sade, a former Bauchi State Commissioner for Information.

The committee directed all affected campaign coordinators to immediately stop operating in their respective local government areas until further instructions are issued.

The affected officials were also asked to submit campaign materials, documents and other items in their possession to the committee’s secretariat on or before July 16, 2026.

Although the statement did not provide reasons for the dissolution, the committee described the move as part of a transition towards a new phase of political engagement.

The committee praised the contributions of coordinators, ward mobilisers and volunteers who worked across Bauchi’s 323 wards, describing their efforts as valuable to the political movement.

Supporters were urged to remain calm, united and committed to Abubakar’s governorship ambition, while details of the next stage of the campaign structure would be announced later.

The development comes amid reported internal tensions within the Bauchi APC chapter following the party’s 2027 governorship primary election.

Some party members have alleged that the process was influenced by external interests, claiming candidates were selected rather than chosen through direct primaries.

The allegations have created divisions among some members, although the party has continued with its preparations for the next election cycle.

Political groups have also linked figures including Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, and former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda to support for Mohammed Abubakar’s emergence as the APC candidate.

Mohammed Abubakar, who previously served as Bauchi governor between 2015 and 2019, lost his re-election bid to incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election.
