Olumuyiwa Adu APC crisis Ondo: Party chieftain dismisses division claims, says tensions signal democratic progress

Adu made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital.
Addressing reports of internal wrangling, Adu insisted that the situation has been mischaracterised.
According to him, what some observers describe as division is in fact resistance to imposition and undemocratic practices within the party structure.
“Things are not really falling apart,” Adu said, arguing that the current tensions stem from efforts to dismantle entrenched interests that previously dominated the political landscape in Ondo State.
He explained that prior to the emergence of the current governor, certain individuals believed they held enduring control over the state’s political machinery, irrespective of the electorate’s will.
Adu described the development as a scenario in which “a set of individuals believed they must remain there perpetually.”
While acknowledging that resistance to what he termed irrationalities and imposition may generate friction, Adu maintained that such tension is a necessary part of democratic evolution.
He added that practices that may have succeeded in the past “can’t work that way” if the state is to move forward.
The APC chieftain stressed that divergent opinions within a political party should not be mistaken for collapse. Instead, he argued, they represent healthy democratic engagement and growth.

Despite visible frictions, Adu expressed confidence that the unfolding developments signal progress rather than decline, affirming that Ondo State continues to advance in its democratic processes.
