APC Kaduna Defection brings 12,000 new members into the party as former opposition supporters join in Lere LGA, Kaduna State
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State received a boost on Sunday as 12,000 members of opposition parties defected to the ruling party in Lere Local Government Area, citing confidence in Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

The new members were received at Ramin Kura and Gure/Kahugu wards by Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Buba, who represented Governor Sani at the event.
The defection ceremony attracted APC leaders, government officials, community representatives and supporters from across the affected wards.
Buba said the Kaduna State Government remained committed to fairness, justice and equal treatment of residents, regardless of political affiliation.
He attributed the growing support for the administration to what he described as Governor Sani’s rural transformation agenda, including investments in roads, schools and other infrastructure projects across the state.
The commissioner assured the new members that they would be fully integrated into the party and enjoy equal opportunities within the APC structure.
Chairman of Lere Local Government Area, Alhaji Jafaru Ahmad, described the development as evidence of increasing public confidence in the APC-led administration.
Ahmad welcomed the defectors and praised their decision to join the ruling party, while APC Lere Local Government Chairman Jonathan Shekarau also assured them of fair treatment and support.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members Nathan Azman and Rayyanu Dauda said they joined the APC because of what they described as Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to development.
“The administration has demonstrated commitment to equitable development and improved the welfare of citizens,” the representatives said.
The new APC members, however, used the opportunity to appeal to the state government for more attention to local infrastructure challenges, including the rehabilitation of roads in their communities and the completion of a secondary school project that has remained abandoned for years.
The latest movement adds to a series of political realignments in Kaduna ahead of future elections, as major parties continue efforts to expand their grassroots support networks.

The APC described the defections as a sign of growing acceptance of its policies in the state, while the new members pledged loyalty to the party and support for the administration’s development plans.
